The second Southridge High School student in a week was found dead from suicide early Saturday morning.
Ben Tucker, 17, was found by authorities just after 12:30 a.m. at Lampson Stadium, said Roy McLean, Benton County’s chief deputy coroner. Details of how he was found and where at the stadium were not immediately available.
Ben just finished his junior year at Southridge High, where he was a trumpet player and also ran sprints and threw shot put for the track and field team.
His death comes six days after that of John Lee McCollom, 16, who was found dead by suicide in Zintel Canyon on June 12. He had just completed his sophomore year.
UPDATE: District officials confirmed that counselors would be on hand from 10 a.m. to noon on June 20 at Southridge High to help any students struggling in the wake of Ben’s and John’s deaths.
